Urgent Care Clinics for our Community

The Albanese Government is delivering on its promise to strengthen Medicare with TWO Medicare Urgent Care Clinics to be established in our community. One in Inala and the other in Redbank.

Our Medicare Urgent Care Clinics will give our community greater access to high quality free urgent care when we need it.

They will be open extended hours, seven days a week, and all you’ll need to access urgent care is your Medicare card.

You don’t need an appointment or referral. You can walk in and wait to be seen.

Medicare Urgent Care Clinics are staffed by highly qualified doctors and nurses.

Our clinics will be available for urgent conditions, including:

minor illnesses or infections, including respiratory illness, gastroenteritis, urinary tract infections (UTI) and sexually transmitted infections (STI).
minor injuries, including injured limbs and minor fractures.
cuts and minor burns.

These clinics are one of a further 29 announced as part of the $227 million expansion in the 2024–25 Budget.

The 58 existing Urgent Care Clinics have already seen hundreds of thousands of presentations since the first sites opened in June 2023.

Delivering on Health Care

There was a lot in our recent Budget to strengthen Medicare and to keep the cost of medicines down. Already we have delivered for the Oxley Electorate $2.2 million in cheaper medicines.

We’re freezing the maximum cost of PBS prescriptions for the next 12 months. That means no one will pay more than $31.60 for a PBS script.

And for Oxley residents with pensioner or concession cards, we’re freezing the price for five years. Meaning these residents won’t pay more than $7.70 for the medicine they need.
