New figures point to big growth for Springfield

01 August 2017

Congratulations to Greater Springfield who this month celebrates its 25 year anniversary.

The region shows no signs of slowing down its incredible growth with statistics released by the Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland (CCIQ) pointing to an optimistic outlook.

Local Federal Member Milton Dick MP said the future looked bright for one of the fastest growing regions in the country.

“From humble beginnings Greater Springfield is now a hotspot for businesses, young families and retirees who are all making the move to our local community.

“These new statistics from the CCIQ show that Greater Springfield is the place to be with almost 350 new businesses opening their doors in the past few years alone.

“It’s no secret that Greater Springfield is gaining an reputation for being a leading healthcare provider, and this is backed up with figures showing that this year is on track double the number of health care and social assistance services available in the last four years for the local community.

“I’m proud to work closely with many Greater Springfield businesses and look forward to supporting their ongoing success well into the future.”

State Labor Candidate for the seat of Jordan Mrs Charis Mullen welcomed the new growth figures which showed Springfield as the place of choice for new businesses in the south east corner.

“Every day I hear of new businesses wanting to call Springfield home.

“We are lucky to have such a dynamic Chamber of Commerce working in partnership helping new businesses become established in Springfield.

“My experience working alongside small business tells me that affordable housing and low unemployment together with a pipeline of planned infrastructure and quality access to education are all the necessary ingredients to help business growth in the Greater Springfield area.”

Figures from the CCIQ show a steady rate of housing construction with a boom in apartments over the past year.

With 164 construction businesses located in the area, this provides a strong foundation for Springfield to keep one of the state’s lowest unemployment rates of just 3.4% into the future.
